GO WHALE WATCHING IN THE SAN JUAN ISLANDS – There are nearly 175 islands within San Juan county, but only four are the most popular ones, namely: San Juan, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw Island. Located off the coast of Washington, the San Juan Islands are the prime location for whale watching, particularly Orcas Island. These islands stretch all the way to parts of Canada, right along the migration path of some very large sea-friends, and fall is one of the prime times to check out orcas and other marine life as they head south. Be sure to take the time to enjoy a whale watching tour for an amazing experience.
CRABBING AT KAYAK POINT REGIONAL PARK – Are you looking for a place to go pier crabbing in Seattle? There are plenty of great spots to go crabbing around in Puget Sound, however, the favorite locations are in the area of Shilshole Bay Marina. Puget Sound is well known for fantastic Dungeness and red rock crab. One million pounds of crab are harvested every year using pots, ring nets, and even bare hands in the case of wade or dive fishermen. Crab can be caught from piers, but piers are often quite crowded during the season. The legal minimum size for male Dungeness crab in Puget Sound is 6-1/4 inches.
CATCH THE BIGGEST SALMON – The Elks and Sixes Rivers, which run through Oregon and the Redwood Forest, are known for salmon fishing. Fall is the prime season to catch the biggest fish possible. Not only are the salmon at their absolute biggest at this time of year but also it is at this time when they return to their home streams to spawn. In Oregon, every year in the month of November, Jubilee Annual Salmon Derby is held which challenges all potential fishermen to take home the biggest salmon catch. The City of Seattle, Washington is nestled amongst some of the best fly fishing destinations in Washington State.
HIKING NEAR SEATTLE – Seattle is an incredible city. Lush forests, pristine alpine lakes, jagged peaks, and water in almost every direction: The stunning geography of the Seattle area makes for an incredible variety of amazing hikes within easy reach. Many hiking trails and scenic spots surrounding the city include Discovery Park Loop – famous for the spectacular scenery, Rattlesnake Ledge – provides a short hike that will get your blood pumping, and Wallace Falls – it also has eight more waterfalls to appreciate with old-growth forests to wander through. These are just a few and there are many other incredible hiking trails Seattle is home to.
GET LOST IN WEST SEATTLE – If you haven't been to West Seattle, your visit to the Emerald City remains incomplete. There are incredible views of the Seattle skyline, beaches and plenty of great restaurants and eclectic markets. West Seattle is across Elliott Bay from downtown Seattle. Instead of looking out on the city, you get spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier and even Mt. Baker. On a sunny day, it’s hard to find a more impressive area than West Seattle. Sea lions are a pretty common sight on Elliott Bay. There are also spots for bird watching.
Host your wedding in Seattle and your guests will surely not get bored as they will have so many activities to try their hands at. The beauty of a get together on board your own private wedding reception charter in Seattle by cruising on the water is that there are no noise ordinances, no neighbors to offend, and there’s no place for anyone to wander off to and be a party-pooper!
