The San Juan Islands
The Orca Whales that reside in the waters of the San Juan Islands are world-renowned as are the islands and have been selected as one of the Top 5 Islands in both Canada and the U.S. by Travel & Leisure Magazine. While many choose to go by sailboat, the overwhelming choice is by luxury yacht. Perhaps for the privacy, exclusivity and complete control over where you drop anchor are among just a few of the reasons why those who can, do. To go to San Juan and back to Seattle in a day is achievable by yacht, but to experience the true beauty of the island we recommend an overnight.
Upon arriving at San Juan, there is a bucket list of possibilities from shopping, where to dine, hiking, biking the island, lying out at Eagle Cove Beach or taking in a spa treatment, and there is no need to worry too much about rain since the islands are home to 250 days of sun annually. With so much to do, there can’t possibly be enough time to do it all in a day, but a day is just enough time to take in the views and the ambiance of what the San Juan’s have to offer. The lodging is absolutely wonderful on the islands but not a necessity when arriving by yacht as most luxury yachts come with accommodations fit for a king.
